Building on Solid Foundation

Foundation matters in all things. We all are building one thing or the other (at least for those who have not given up on life!) and aspire to be successful in one area or the other as we journey through life. Yours may be building a career, another may be focusing on financial freedom, it may be having a healthy lifestyle, a marriage, courtship, frienship, a certification and the list goes on.

It is okay to get busy at something. Afterall, no action, no results. But my question to you is, how are you building? Do you have a solid foundation? Will whatever you are building stand the test of time? Foundation matters a great deal. So many people have built but what they built or tried to build never lasted. Why build what will not last? That is a waste of time and resources!

God, the Creator, built this world we see and things we do not see with our physical eyes. In Genesis, the Scriptures say, "God saw it was good!" What God built is not only good but it has lasted and still lasts. Think about it. Will whatever you are building last the test of time?

Your career for instance, are you building on principles or with "anything goes" mindset? Are you treating colleagues with respect and being mindful of your motives? Are you stepping on others' feelings to get to the top?

In the area of marriage, courtship and relationships, foundation is key. What you sow, you will reap and in abundance! Selah. Before you get married, take the time to build a solid foundation based on time tested principles and values. As someone who has been married for close to three decades, I assure you that, if you don't follow this seemingly simple advice, you will get to live in regret in the future. Yes, the future is now! Take the time to build to last.

So many young people are too much in a haste. They discard advice as "old school" and approach life as if there is a duplicate. You lay on your bed just as you make it. Period.

Approach everything you do with great precaution and caution. What goes around comes around. Foundation matters.

How can I ensure that I have a solid foundation, you ask? Well, since you asked, the truth is that the best foundation you can ever have is in Christ Jesus! (1 Corinthians 3:11).

The Bible talks about different types of foundations - foundation of righteousness and justice; foundation of murder and corruption; good foundation; tested foundation; firm foundation; foundation of wisdom, etc. What type of foundation are you building on? You alone can answer this question.

I guess what I am trying to suggest to you is that, things don't just happen.

To get any lasting results, it calls for a deliberate, thoughtful assessment and quality decisions. It all boils down to the nitty-gritty of the foundation. Afterall, our Lord Jesus Christ said, (I paraphrase) "who wants to build an edifice and will not first sit to plan whether or not they have the resources to finish the work?" Do you have the wherewithal to build? Nothing happens by chance.

Take the time to have a solid foundation. Seek counsel, do research, observe, get a mentor, sign on a coach, read, learn and re-learn, think. Do the ground work before you launch out and then, build to last. Build a foundation for the long haul.
